My Introduction to Auto-Animate in Adobe Xd
I used this week’s design challenge to familiarize myself with Adobe Xd, and, more specifically, the auto-animate feature for prototyping.
I chose a simple design challenge this week so I could focus on toying with auto-animate. My challenge from UI Daily was to design a sign up screen.
Before getting to the sign up screen, I decided to toy with the smart-animation on random shapes. My animations quickly improved over a few iterations.
I started with basic rectangles to explore rotational and linear motion:
I created the next animation to try linear motion and rotational motion in one animation…it could use some smoothing out but I think I got the gist of it.
Feeling like I was getting the hang of it, I decided to go for something aesthetically pleasing too not just animated. I love a good puzzle so I decided to use that as my inspiration.
Realizing I lost track of time, I decided to focus on making a sign up screen per the original design challenge. I incorporated what I learned about smart animation by creating a fun loading animation.
I definitely skipped a few steps by having my first introduction to Adobe Xd go straight to auto-animated prototypes, but I really wanted to give it a shot and the other features are similar to Figma and Sketch. I have to say, I’m very impressed by Xd’s prototyping capabilities, and the recording feature makes it so easy to get demo clips.
I can’t wait to take a deeper dive into all that Adobe Xd has to offer!
